The above image is actually a close-up photo of a grungy container of old potato chips, taken with the camera I have on my phone. However, with just a few edits and tweaks, the photo is transformed into something almost unrecognizable.
Now instead of potato chips, I see an eerie cloudy sky, or maybe a poisoned drink. What do you see? This idea made me realize how much I appreciate interpretation. It’s so interesting to see how a different set of eyes can imagine and see something completely different than another. I think it’d be cool to use this as an experiment to see how people think, and why. Also, I think it would be neat to see how imaginative adults or children can be when looking at certain images. Sort of like the Rorschach (Inkblot) Test. Hm.

Alright, I’m jumping on the thanks countdown wagon! I say the word so often, but feel like I still don’t really think it or feel grateful as much as I should. I’m always wanting something to be different or wanting something new…want want want, never satisfied. I suppose in some senses, that is a good thing, but I want to remind myself of all of the goodness I have in my life. Here goes: (I’ll add a few each day.)
01 | Food, shelter & loved ones 02 | My family..I would have to write a book to truly describe how wonderful they are! 03 | New, lasting, and rediscovered friendships. 04 | My job 05 | My cozy apartment

I loooove discovering new color palettes accidentally. This one appeared from simply selecting different colored text in InDesign. Didn’t like the original colors, but I really like the combination when they are inverted. I’m usually naturally drawn to cold colors, but I think the splash of orangishred is a nice anomaly.
Came across these pieces during a trip to the Goodol’will. I decided against the purchase at first, but instead took a photo with my phone. I translated each of these when I got home, and realized I HAD to go back and get them….sooooo precious!! And besides having some new decor adorning our kitchen, I now have a very strong interest in learning Swedish.

Thank you very much.

I’ve wanted to invest in a nice down blanket for years. Now that I have my own apartment and winter is coming, I think it might be just the right time. I’m going to try to find a cozy damask style blanket. Hopefully when I have it I’ll still manage to get out of bed for work, or anything for that matter!

Last fall I had the opportunity to visit Germany for a weekend during Oktoberfest. While staying with my roommate’s family in Munich, I met Viviana and Natalie, who are now my two favorite pen pals! This time, Natalie wrote me a letter and used scented stamps on the envelope. Definitely made me smile seeing the note on the back telling me to smell the stamps! :) Thank you for making my day Viviana and Natalie!
